As one of several topics addressed last week in a public letter, Will Wilson, Secretary General and CEO of U.S. Soccer, announced that all youth national teams will be scaled back for the "balance of 2020."
Wilson said there could be exceptions made for teams that are involved in actual competitions, though the COVID-19 pandemic has seriously reduced those chances. The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India, FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica and Panama, and Summer Olympics in Japan have all been pushed back a year. Other Concacaf and international events are on pause, too.
So, which locals will be most impacted by this decision?
To answer that, we've sorted through New England's up-and-comers by age group. For inclusion, players were born in New England.
