Sean Hurlburt was four days away from his first game as co-captain of the Wheaton College men’s soccer team, thinking about how he could keep leading the program forward after it reached the conference championship game the year before.
Meanwhile, after 44 years as the coach at Brandeis, Mike Coven (Brookline, Mass.) was missing soccer but enjoying a relaxed retirement.
"It doesn’t take a lot to entertain me." Coven said. "I’m a simple guy and kind of a homebody. I was reading two, three, four books a week, catching up on old movies on TV. We’re big Sox fans and went to a bunch of games."
