The end of August and the start of a new school year can only mean one thing. High school soccer season is here, of course.
Last season, Concord-Carlisle rolled to an undefeated season, taking the Division 1 crown. Meanwhile, Oliver Ames repeated in Division 2. Over in Division 3, it was all Norwell. Lynnfield earned bragging rights in Division 4, and Westport went on a run as the No. 8 seed in Division 5 to cap an undefeated season.
Each team that made a run at a championship had standout players leading the way to potential. Concord-Carlisle, for example, leaned on All-American forward Brady Poor's 19 goals and nine assists. Joey Carney's 21 goals were critical for Oliver Ames. Matt McAuliffe's standout performance in the midfield led Pembroke to a D3 finals appearance. Weymouth, who earned a top-five seed in D1, boasted All-American forward Bruno Desouza.
So, who could the biggest difference-makers be this season?
Let's dive into 24 players to watch as things get underway.
