EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – The United States women’s national team boasted a certain swagger when attacking Mexico on Thursday night.
There were flicks and backheels. Give-and-go's and combinations. Teasing crosses and audacious long-range efforts. They succeeded through wide areas, down the middle and from distance.
On a rain-soaked evening, two goals from Christen Press and one apiece from Sam Mewis (Hanson, Mass.) and Tobin Heath contributed to the USWNT’s 4-0 triumph over Mexico at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut. The win extended their unbeaten streak to 43 games (39-0-4), now the second-longest run in program history.
