When asked how his season with Reading United in USL League Two is going, Simon Becher (Brooklyn, Conn.) had an interesting way of phrasing things.
“It’s almost like a preseason to a preseason, which is just fantastic,” Becher said.
As simple as that’s phrased, it’s also spot on. Their regular season contains just 14 games, then possibly advancing to playoffs as winners of the Mid-Atlantic Division.
For Becher, it’s a condensed summer of soccer that tends to go something like this: training with Reading or the Bethlehem Steel (Philadelphia Union’s USL Championship team), letting your body recover, eating well and then hanging out. Rinse and repeat, with games midweek or on the weekend.
