Tony Marino, who grew up in Harwinton, Conn., has roots throughout the New England soccer landscape.
He played Division 2 soccer at Franklin Pierce at the turn of the century, and coached the UMass Lowell women’s team in the mid 2000s. Other stops include the now-defunct Bandits Soccer club, then a half decade as boys director at Scorpions SC.
The latest chapter now awaits Marino, as earlier this week he was named boys' director of coaching at FC Stars of Massachusetts. Stars, a national powerhouse in the Girls ECNL, has never before had such a position.
“I saw my opportunity over the Christmas period and jumped on it,” Marino said.
