Anyone who thought Stonington, the reigning Class M champions in Connecticut, would miss a beat during the 2020 season clearly wasn’t paying attention.
The Bears (2-0) are currently led by junior Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.), a 6-foot-3 striker who’s notched back-to-back hat tricks in their first two games this fall, a pair of wins over Ledyard and Waterford.
Montalto’s now at 50 goals for his Stonington career, and is 13 away from tying Joe Ponte (Class of ‘89, played at Penn) for the program record of 63. At this rate, he’ll feasibly hit that by the end of October.
