Former University of Connecticut goalkeeper Andre Blake continues to show why Premier League teams attempted to acquire him last year with a multi-million dollar move.
Blake, whose spectacular saves helped seal a 1-0 win for the Philadelphia Union over the New England Revolution last Saturday, was being pursued by Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace, according to Goal.com’s Ives Galarcep.
But Jamaica’s low FIFA rating blocked a possible move. Now, Jamaica has improved to a No. 54 FIFA ranking, but will have to maintain a top 75 rating for two years to increase the chance of landing the 27-year-old. Unless, that is, a Premier League club is willing to pay a transfer fee acceptable to the Union and MLS.
