For nearly four decades, Babson could lay claim to being the only New England-based school where a senior class made three Division 3 men’s soccer Final Fours. The Beavers won the NCAA tournament in 1979 and 1980, plus made the semifinal round in 1977. They're also only local program to repeat as D3 men's national champions.
Those accomplishments could be matched by Tufts’ current senior class, as the Jumbos (18-2-2) await a national semifinal against Calvin on Dec. 6 in Greensboro, N.C.
Tufts has made four Final Fours in the last five years under head coach Josh Shapiro, and the team’s seniors can close their careers with three national titles. They already have championship wins in 2016 and 2018, which both came against Calvin (23-1-1).
