When Scorpions Soccer Club announced earlier this year that the organization would join United Women’s Soccer, Scorpions co-director Evan Burokas stressed the importance of providing college athletes a professional training environment.
Not only did the Scorpions hone their skills over the summer, but also they earned results.
In its first season in the UWS, Scorpions SC posted a 5-2-3 record, good for fourth place in the league’s Eastern Conference. The 18 points were enough to qualify the team for the conference playoffs, but logistical issues led to the Scorpions withdrawing from the postseason.
