Cornell has landed an attack-minded player from New England for the second straight recruiting class, with midfielder Samuel Latona (Manchester, N.H.) recently committing to the Ivy League’s Class of 2021.
Latona, who plays for Valeo FC and NHIAA public school power Manchester Central, follows in the footsteps of Belmont Hill and Boston Bolts forward Matthew Goncalves (Everett, Mass.). He’s in the Big Red’s Class of 2020, as is Northwood and Black Rock FC center back Mateo Rodriguez.
Latona weighed other Division I options, but talks with Cornell accelerated as Brad Cole (Burlington, Vt.) left the University of Vermont to become an assistant at the Ivy League program.
