FOXBORO, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Wilfried Zahibo has spent plenty of time talking with head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena over the past month during training sessions.
“He speaks a lot with me,” Zahibo said of Arena, who hired on May 14 and began working with the team later in the month. “He wants me to be strong and bullish defensively, but also bring my quality when playing passes forward. This is what I am trying to do.”
Whatever the Frenchman has shown in practice is clearly working, as he started and played 87 minutes in Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw against first-place Philadelphia Union at Gillette Stadium.
