In the past 11 months, Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.) has seen two of his longtime New England Revolution Academy teammates sign with the first team.
The first was Isaac Angking (Providence, R.I.) last winter, who just wrapped up his rookie season in Major League Soccer. Then came Nicolas Firmino (Somerville, Mass.) on Tuesday, the club’s fifth-ever Homegrown Player.
All three midfielders were developed locally, but one is not like the other. Vang’s freshman season at Providence College recently concluded, while Angking and Firmino are preparing for preseason under second year-head coach Brad Friedel.
