Before Sage Kinner even left New York City on his official visit to Columbia, the New England Revolution Academy defender had already made up his mind.
“Towards the end of the visit, I was watching practice with my dad, and I said to him ‘If they offer me a spot, I’m going to take it,” said Kinner. “New York City is amazing. It was the first time I loved every aspect of a school.”
Columbia ended up offering Kinner last weekend and the Class of 2025 prospect committed on the spot, wrapping up a lengthy recruitment process for the center back from Burlington, Vt.
Kinner initially wanted to play at the University of Vermont, his hometown school, or Cornell. But Kinner was still searching for a home for the next four years after those opportunities fell through.
