NEWTON, Mass. – The FC Greater Boston Bolts needed this one.
Coming off consecutive losses in MLS Next U-19 action, the Bolts closed October with a tidy 2-1 win over a strong Seacoast United team on Saturday morning at Mount Ida College.
Miguel Periera opened the scoring with a first-half header before the Bolts' defense, led by center-back Henry Wassarman, denied Seacoast a chance at an equalizer for most of the second half.
Although the Bolts and Seacoast remain outside the top half of the Northeast Division, both clubs know a strong November can bring momentum for the spring season.
Saturday’s match was tightly contested and featured several standout players. Som, like Wassarman (Boston College), Seacoast’s John Pottle (NC State) and Bolts midfielder Ian Hecker (Duke), will play against each other next year in the ACC. Other players like Seacoast’s Eli Granda are uncommitted but continue to shine.
Here are seven standouts from the game.
