Earlier this week, US Club Soccer announced a licensing program called Players First, a branded experience for youth clubs designed to improve player development throughout the country.

Locally, New England Premiership and Northeast Soccer League clubs can apply to become a Players First club. That process comes with club, player and coach development, as well as parent engagement and education. Another facet – and perhaps the most important, according to Payne – is player health and safety.
In a vast youth soccer marketplace, this initiative is designed to differentiate clubs and help families make more informed decisions about their child's experience. Payne, in much greater detail, walks through it all below.
