Penn State forward and Massachusetts native Payton Linnehan (Douglas, Mass.) has earned an unexpected call-up to the U.S. U-23 Women’s Youth National Team.
Linnehan, a former FC Stars standout, has joined the team for the final two matches of the Thorns Preseason Tournament. The roster addition for the friendly tournament was announced yesterday.
The U.S. U-23 WYNT opened its three-game run at the Thorns Preseason Tournament with a 3-0 loss to the 2022 NWSL Shield Winners OL Reign on Sunday. The U.S. team is playing with a roster made up entirely of collegiate players and after only a few days of training together.
