The 2019 Girls NPL Finals championship matches rolled around Monday, with two teams from New England in position to emerge as national champions from the year-end event at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.
When all was said and done, South Shore Select's 2004 AP team (U-15) did exactly that, while NEFC's 2003 NPL team (U-16) dropped a tightly-contested match.
The South Shore Select win ensured the club took home a NPL national title for the third year running, cementing their place as one of the region's top girls clubs. Both clubs competed in the New England Premiership, winning the top flight in their respective divisions.
