New York City FC enters a new era in 2020 under head coach Ronny Deila, and the Norwegian is already putting faith in the club's budding academy.
A trio of Connecticut natives saw considerable minutes in Florida Cup scrimmages against Brazilian Serie A teams, as led by U-19 winger Andres Jasson (Greenwich, Conn.). He was joined by his teammate, midfielder Julio Lansade (Fairfield, Conn.), and since-graduated midfielder Colman Kim (Shelton, Conn.).
NYCFC are preparing for their Concacaf Champions League debut Feb. 20 at Costa Rican side AD San Carlos, and dropped a pair of 2-1 decisions against Corinthians and Palmeiras last week in Orlando, Fla.
