A month ago, the New England Revolution were dead last in the Eastern Conference standings, had the league’s worst goals-against total and were sinking fast.
Now, the Revs appear to have recovered and hold a four-game unbeaten streak after a 2-1 win over the LA Galaxy this past Sunday. Bruce Arena’s guidance seems to have transformed the side as they secured one of their top road performances ever.
Arena has made it clear he’s in charge, though he moved slowly after being named sporting director and head coach May 14. Arena only announced he would be on the bench last Friday, unwilling to interfere with the work of interim coach Mike Lapper, who led the Revolution to a 1-0-2 mark after replacing Brad Friedel.
