The New England Revolution appear to be changing their frugal tune.
Despite the investment in talent, both the numbers and intangibles are working against the Revolution for their 2019 season-opener at FC Dallas on Saturday afternoon.
The Revs haven't won a season-opener since 2013; they've lost eight successive matches to FC Dallas; they haven't won in Frisco, Texas, since 2008; and FC Dallas has a nine-game (6-0-3) unbeaten streak in home openers dating back to 2010.
Also, FC Dallas will be competing for the first time since technical director Fernando Clavijo’s death from cancer, and the team will be under the direction of a new coach, Luchi Gonzalez.
