It's no stretch to call the NESCAC the country's premier Division III conference for men's soccer.
After all, Tufts has won four of the past six national championships (plus back-to-back ones) and Amherst won the 2015 title. Plus, Connecticut College has made three straight NCAA tournaments, and Middlebury and Williams are usually also in contention.
The main driver behind that success is quality talent, with coaches able to recruit from across the country and internationally. Many NESCAC players are good enough to feature at Division I programs, they just happened to want the D-III experience instead.
