Every year, it seems like the Worcester Academy girls soccer team is in the mix for a NEPSAC Class A championship.
That was certainly the case in 2021, as Worcester finished the season at 17-2-1 and fell to Buckingham Browne & Nichols in the Class A title game. In fact, BB&N was the only team to defeat WA last fall.
With the 2022 season less than six months away, head coach Jennifer Marino is highly optimistic for what’s to come.
"I think that we achieved a lot last year, and it was a lot of pieces that kind of had to come together fast because of the COVID year (2020)," said Marino, pointing to the fact that there was no prep season in 2020. "Our senior class was half kids who had been here all four years, but also half made up of kids who arrived during the COVID year, when we didn’t even have a season."
