SUFFIELD, Conn. -- To say Milton Academy carried some extra motivation into this year’s NEPSAC boys soccer Class A playoffs would be an understatement.
The Mustangs felt heartbreak in last year’s tournament, falling in the Class A final in a gut-wrenching penalty kick shootout. Along with redemption on their minds, there was a chip placed on their collective shoulders after being handed the unenviable No. 4 seed in this year’s Class A bracket. It was a spot that was arguably a tad disrespectful for a Milton squad that only had one blemish on its record entering the postseason.
All of that undoubtedly helped fuel a remarkable three-wins-in-five-days playoff run for Milton that culminated with an impressive 2-0 victory over second-seeded Taft to capture the 2023 Class A championship at Suffield Academy on a beautiful fall Sunday.
