Of the 52 players picked in the first two rounds of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday, four had roots in New England via school or their hometown.
A pair of Providence College players led the way, as goalkeeper Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) went No. 44 overall to Orlando City and midfielder Danny Griffin (Wethersfield, Conn.) went No. 49 overall to the Columbus Crew.
The highest overall local pick was UConn winger Dayonn Harris, who went No. 20 overall to Real Salt Lake in the first round. Then, Berkshire School product and Black Rock FC USL League Two captain Ifunanyachi Achara went No. 25 overall to Toronto FC after an impressive Georgetown career.
