On Tuesday, Major League Soccer’s SuperDraft 2024 was held, and a total of six New England players were selected in the three-round draft.
Leading the way was a very familiar name in college soccer circles across this region. That would be New Hampshire senior midfielder Yannick Bright, who was drafted in the first round by Inter Miami CF with the 15th overall pick.
Bright is the second player in UNH program history to be picked in the first round. This comes after a brilliant career that saw him become the first player in Wildcats’ program history to be a three-time All-American. He was named to the First Team in 2021 and 2023, while he was selected to the Third Team in 2022. He was also one of 15 semifinalists for the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy, given to the nation’s top college soccer player, and captured his third straight America East Midfielder of the Year Award this season.
