WINDSOR, Conn. -- Hartford Athletic announced Brendan Burke as its new head coach and general manager on Tuesday.
The Massachusetts native and former Boston College player said he has been watching the USL Championship club and tracking this job for six years, waiting for an opportunity -- or mutual admiration -- to ply his trade closer to home.
"It just never really lined up right for me to take the opportunity, or for them to take the chance on me," the 41-year-old Burke said at his introductory press conference at the team offices.
