INDIO, Calif. — MLS Next Fest provides players with a fantastic opportunity to showcase their skills against the top teams in the country.
For college programs, the six-day showcase allows coaches to watch players closely and gather important information before recruiting season heats up. It’s truly a win-win for both sides and makes the festival a pivotal part of the MLS Next calendar.
Over the next few weeks, I will unveil my MLS Next Fest standouts from the forward, midfielder, and defense positions in the Class of 2025 and 2026. These lists are based on what I saw at the event and what I gathered from conversations with coaches.
I wanted to start with the Class of 2026 midfielders. This is the strongest crop of players in New England in my opinion. At MLS Next Fest, these midfielders stood out as their tactical skills, decision-making, and defensive ability were on display.
Not only did these midfielders pile up stats and help their teams win, but they also grabbed the attention of college coaches from across the country.
