The Oakwood Soccer Club U17 team entered Saturday’s match at NEFC with a 1-6-2 record in the fall season.
However, the Connecticut-based club earned their biggest result of the season on a chilly morning at NEFC Park. Javaughn Johnson received a pass inside the box and slotted home the equalizer late in the second half, giving Oakwood a 3-3 draw against an NEFC team that resides near the top of the table in the Northeast Division.
Oakwood underwent an ownership change over the summer, but the club has shown incremental improvement throughout the fall.
I also watched the U19 game between NEFC and Oakwood, which NEFC won 4-0 to improve to 5-4-2. This was my second time watching NEFC and my first time seeing Oakwood.
