Another former U.S. men’s national team player from New England is growing lower-league professional soccer in the region, as it was announced last week that Michael Parkhurst (Cranston, R.I.) has joined the prospective USL Rhode Island ownership group.
Parkhurst’s minority stake comes after Charlie Davies (Manchester, N.H.) joined majority owner Jeremy Zelanes’ project to bring a USL League One team to New Hampshire.
All the while, a prospective USL League One team in Portland, Maine chugs along as spearheaded by former Dartmouth player Gabe Hoffman-Johnson and others.
