A modified college season continues to take shape at the Division I level, with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announcing plans Monday in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The MAAC, an 11-team conference that includes Connecticut-based sides Fairfield and Quinnipiac, now won’t start competition until Sept. 11. Further, conference games begin Sept. 26 and the tournament has been reduced from six to four teams.
Quinnipiac women’s head coach Dave Clarke said the NCAA tournament could be pushed back a week, allowing for more non-conference games (most can afford a maximum of four now).
