Few New England natives have reached greater heights in professional soccer than Charlie Davies.
But the Manchester, N.H., native and former Brooks School and Boston College star is missing something from the checklist of his accomplishments in the world’s game: World Cup qualifiers, a Confederations Cup, a nearly decade-long career in Europe and even playing for his hometown New England Revolution.
Davies never made a U-20 World Cup roster. In fact, he was the last cut from a team the late Sigi Schmid brought to the Netherlands in 2005 for what was then known as the FIFA World Youth Championship, despite helping the team advance through CONCACAF qualifying.
