There are many ways to measure success beyond college commitments, but Oakwood's U-19 Development Academy team is off to a red-hot start in that regard.
Midfielder Joey Zarra, who played with both the U-17s and U-19s last season, has verbally committed to the University of Connecticut. That makes the Cheshire, Conn., native the second Oakwood player to commit early to the Huskies, joining striker Chris Alwang (Weston, Conn.).
There are now five early commits for Oakwood, with left back Sloan Sullivan (Ellington, Conn.) heading to James Madison and defender Billy Jones (Ellington, Conn.) pledging to the University of New Hampshire. At the beginning of August, striker Evan Southern (Glastonbury, Conn.) verbally committed to Saint Louis.
