On Jan. 8, Jason Lowe was on his way to the Wake Forest vs. Duke men's basketball game. He wanted to see in person what all the craze was about Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett, two Blue Devils standouts who are likely lottery picks in the 2019 NBA Draft.
But Lowe, then-Wake Forest associate head coach, received a call: The head coach job at Boston College was his.
"It was a no-brainer at that point," Lowe told New England Soccer Journal. "I was just blessed and thankful to get the opportunity."
The news set off a whirlwind few days for Lowe, who already had a flight booked to the United Soccer Coaches convention and NWSL Draft in Chicago, Ill. Lowe attended those events, BC sent gear to his hotel and he flew down to Florida for an Elite Clubs National League recruiting showcase.
