When the University of New Hampshire trotted out its starting XI for Sunday’s game against Northeastern, four freshmen got the opening nod during the Wildcats’ first match in 466 days.
The quartet included center back Alivia Kelly (Pembroke, Mass.), left back Ella Dudley, midfielder Anna Hewlett and forward Emily Bini – a group that confidently met their first Division I test.
Hewlett sent in a corner kick in the 20th minute that Kelly headed home, giving UNH a 1-0 win over Northeastern. It was one of the region’s first D-I games during the Spring 2021 semester, and the former Scorpions SC and Thayer Academy defender provided the difference.
