After much anticipation, the Spring 2021 college soccer season is only weeks away.
Only one (Boston College) of New England’s 23 Division I women’s teams competed during the Fall 2020 semester, as the COVID-19 pandemic upended sports at all levels. The public-health situation still weighs heavily on day-to-day life, though D-I schools seem committed to returning to competition.
That sets the scene for games this spring, which will begin with non-conference ones in February and continue through conference tournaments in mid-April that’ll determine automatic qualifiers to the NCAA tournament. Each school awaits a different variation of schedule and postseason possibilities, so check out our D-I women’s landing page for more details.
In the meantime, here’s our preseason top 10 rankings for D-I women's soccer in New England. The region’s four Ivy League schools – Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard and Yale – aren’t competing due to COVID-19, though they would have prominently featured under normal circumstances.
