On Friday morning, when Major League Soccer officially announced the addition of 24 new clubs for the 2021-22 MLS NEXT season, some eyebrows were raised across New England’s youth soccer landscape.
That reaction wasn’t for any nefarious or controversial reasons, but rather wondering what Intercontinental Football Academy of New England was. The region’s club scene is ever-changing, though this development came somewhat out of left field.
To clear up any confusion, IFA New England is the elite boys arm of Juventus Academy Boston, a rapidly-growing club in Massachusetts with big aspirations. They’re under the same ownership, just branded differently.
