Under first-year head coach Jason Dowiak, UMass Amherst recently wrapped up its best season since 2011, largely navigating the Atlantic 10 with ease.
As part of that resurgence, Dowiak turned to a talented freshman class, led by forward Lauren Bonavita (Hanson, Mass.). A member of the A-10 All-Rookie Team, Bonavita finished as the club's second-leading scorer with seven goals and five assists.
To highlight Bonavita's breakout season, we caught up with her for the Hangin' Out With section of our November magazine. She talked everything from her high school roots, to adjusting to college soccer, to the Minutewomen's outlook.
