Heading into the 2019-20 school year, Middlesex enters an unfamiliar spot as defending Independent School League and NEPSAC Class B champion.
Pressure will ramp up for the Zebras after an 18-0-3 season, though the program led by Ken Risley can rest easy knowing junior goalkeeper Alfonso De Vito (Newton, Mass.) is back between the sticks. Last year, De Vito split time with then-senior Kenyon Pelletier (Andover, Mass.), posting a 0.57 goals-against average and helping Middlesex record 11 shutouts.
This coming fall, De Vito is set to take over full-time after a summer that included a trip to the SuperCupNI in Northern Ireland with the GPS National U-17 team. A
side from the prep school ranks, De Vito has starred for his GPS Massachusetts team under coach Andy Prosser, winning an Elite National Premier League title in 2017-18.
