Last year proved to be a valuable learning experience for this year’s Oakwood Soccer Club U-17 Girls Academy team.
In June of 2021, Oakwood went from being a wild card team in the national playoffs to being a national semifinalist. In the process of that impressive run that ultimately fell two wins shy of a national championship, Oakwood got a taste of what it's like to travel around the country and face the nation’s most elite competition on a major stage.
"At that point, we figured we’re playing well and we had bigger aspirations for (2022), of course," said head coach Chris Mogavero, who took over as head coach of the team in early-June of 2021.
Those big aspirations for the Connecticut-based club were met this past weekend, in emphatic fashion.
