Angela Salem just completed her ninth season as a professional soccer player and her second as a graduate assistant coach at Springfield College.
The Akron, Ohio, native played two seasons for the Boston Breakers in the NWSL, including starting all 24 matches and logging 2,117 minutes in 2017. This year, she made five appearances for the Portland Thorns.
As a graduate student at Springfield, she’s focusing on athletic counseling, which gives her a unique perspective on the mental side of soccer.
I recently sat down with Angela to have her share her experiences and her thoughts, based on her vast and diverse experience as a professional player, collegiate coach and athletic counselor.
