Heading into Sunday’s matchup with So Cal Blues SC at ECNL National Playoffs in Del Mar, Calif., the FC Stars East U-18/19 Composite team had the chance to make it 27 games undefeated.
That proposition looked promising, too, when Emily McCormack, a UMass Amherst commit, deposited a penalty kick to make it 1-0 early on. But then So Cal Blues scored six unanswered goals, leaving the ECNL championship match with a 6-1 win.
Like head coach James Blackwell said, all streaks eventually come to an end.
