Last weekend, girls Elite Clubs National League programs from across the country competed in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., at the ECNL Florida showcase, which wrapped up on Monday.
It was the third big national event of the club soccer season and served as an important winter measuring stick for clubs before the season gets cranked up significantly in March. There were also approximately 900 college coaches in attendance, according to ECNL, which provided incredible exposure to the players.
The showcase featured a strong contingent of New England programs, including FC Stars’ Blue and White, Connecticut FC, FSA FC and Scorpions SC. Games were played at the U-16, U-17 and U-18/19 levels. In total, there were 85 U-16 squads registered to play, 83 U-17 teams, and 58 U-18/19 teams. Each team played multiple games over the span of the showcase.
Here are some takeaways and highlights for different clubs from the region at the high-profile event.
