PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Our next standout list from the ECNL Girls’ Phoenix showcase are the U-17 midfielders.
It’s a position that requires a player to be balanced, versatile and fit, able to contribute on the attack and in the defensive third. Midfielders have the ability to dictate tempo, control possession and link everything together.
Several midfielders at the U-17 age level shined bright over the three-day event that was held from April 4-6 with sunny skies and pleasantly warm Arizona temps. That includes players from the New England clubs that made the trip out west to face some of the best teams in the country, in front of hundreds of college coaches and scouts.
I was there as well, watching as much of the action as I could and will continue to unveil New England standouts from each position over the next several days.
