PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Today, our standouts series from the ECNL Girls’ Phoenix showcase shines the light on U-17 defenders.
Playing on the back line was no easy task at the national event, as defenders had to face many of the country’s top attacking players.
Several backs at the U-17 age level starred over the three-day event that was held from April 4-6 with sunny skies and pleasantly warm Arizona temps. That includes players from the New England clubs that made the trip out west to face some of the best teams in the country, in front of hundreds of college coaches and scouts.
I was there as well, watching as much of the action as I could. For the past several days, I’ve been unveiling New England standouts from each position. Our final standout list will drop tomorrow, with a look at the top goalkeepers from the U-16 and U-17 levels.
