It’s a move every young goalie in New England has tried, or at least imagined, in their backyard or local park – diving through the snow to make a dazzling save.
When Olivia Barnhill did it Sunday, it sent the Williams College women’s soccer team onto the Division 3 Final Four with a chance to defend last year’s national championship.
The Ephs (17-1-4) are in the Final Four for the fourth time in five years after outlasting William Smith (N.Y.) on penalty kicks in Sunday’s quarterfinal game, played in a snowstorm in Geneva, N.Y.
It’s a memory players and coaches won’t soon forget and Barnhill, a 5-foot-7 senior from New York City, may not ever forget.
