For the Wesleyan University women’s soccer team, it wasn’t enough to make history this fall by playing in the Division 3 NCAA Tournament for the first time.
Instead, the Cardinals opted to take this new opportunity and run with it as far as they possibly can. The chapters just keep being written.
Wesleyan punched a ticket to the national semifinals by defeating host and fellow New England program, MIT, on Sunday in a quarterfinal by a score of 2-1 in overtime. The Cardinals improved to 18-1-2 and will head to Greensboro, N.C., next week for a Final Four matchup against The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), the top-ranked team in the nation. That game will happen on Friday, Dec. 3, while the other semifinal will feature Loras College against Christopher Newport University. The two semifinal winners will meet for the national championship on Saturday, Dec. 4 in Greensboro.
