On paper, it’s hard to imagine Amherst forward Patience Kum experiencing a better sophomore year in 2022.
Her accolades list was lengthy, earning Second Team All-American, First Team All-Region and NESCAC Player of the Year honors, while rattling off nine goals and four assists in 21 games (12 starts).
All that occurred as the Mammoths won NESCAC regular-season and tournament titles, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. It was only in the latter competition that heartbreak arrived, as Amherst fell to William Smith in the Round of 16 -- an outcome that provides great motivation for Kum heading into the 2023 campaign.
