Division III competition returned to New England last weekend when Thomas College and the University of Maine-Presque Isle opened a home-and-home series of friendlies that’ll conclude this Saturday.
Both schools are in the North Atlantic Conference, which originally cancelled conference games and championships back on July 20 amid mounting concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic.
But after phased-in training sessions, as coupled with relatively-low positive case numbers and robust testing plans, scrimmages occurred Oct. 10. Thomas beat UMPI, 3-0, in men’s soccer, and then the Terriers’ women’s team also beat UMPI, 1-0, in overtime.
