Kathy Brawn, during her 29 years as Colgate head coach, always had a deep appreciation for the Division III model.
It surfaced in a close relationship with Jen Hughes, her former player and assistant coach who’s led Amherst since the 2004 season. Or even someone like Claire McLain, the former Utica head coach, whose husband now leads Villanova after being Brawn’s associate head coach for 11 years.
Through each connection, Brawn gained admiration for what's now the next chapter of her coaching career. She was named as interim head coach of Mount Holyoke women’s soccer on Oct. 6, marking a departure from the Division I world.
